OVERWATCH, Operation Red Skies

Important Note SCP Task Force 2 is going to come out and is not a fan project.

Introduction[]

SCP Task Force is a story-driven, mission-based game set in the SCP universe, centered around the Mobile Task Forces of the SCP Foundation. Throughout several operations, Operatives uncover plots involving anomalous threats, rogue agents, and behind-the-scenes machinations by the O5 Council. While the original game was ultimately discontinued, its published missions—along with unreleased plans—form a complex narrative full of twists and unanswered questions.

Factions & Involved Parties[]

The SCP Foundation[]

A global organization dedicated to containing supernatural anomalies (“SCPs”) away from the public eye. The Foundation employs:

  • Researchers and Support Staff: Conduct tests on SCPs, keep facilities operational.
  • Mobile Task Forces (MTFs): Elite units specializing in combat, containment, and reconnaissance operations.
  • The Overseer Council (O5 Council): The highest authority of the Foundation, privy to all secrets.
  • OVERWATCH: A mysterious figure (possibly an Overseer or a key command operative) who directly manages Task Force deployments and briefs the squads.

Chaos Insurgency (CI)[]

A group of ex–SCP Foundation operatives (most infamously rogue Alpha-1 members) who violently oppose SCP Foundation protocols. They frequently kidnap SCPs for weaponization and use Class-D and Foundation personnel for their own ends, prompting continuous conflict with the Foundation.

United Nations Global Occult Coalition (UNGOC)[]

An anomalous defense organization under direct UN control. Unlike the SCP Foundation, which researches and contains anomalies, the GOC seeks to destroy them outright. Tensions between the GOC and the SCP Foundation flare during certain missions where Mobile Task Forces operatives and GOC troops come into direct conflict.

Class-D Personnel[]

Convicts used by the SCP Foundation as disposable test subjects. Sometimes resentful or forcibly recruited, Class-D have been known to rebel, especially when armed by the Chaos Insurgency.

Main Storyline[]

The storyline progresses through a series of operations, each involving different Mobile Task Forces units. Canonically, the same group of operatives does not reappear in separate operations—once a Task Force is deployed, it remains on its assignment while others pick up new missions. The following outlines the major events of each operation.

1. Operation Red Skies[]

Task Force: Epsilon-11 "Nine Tailed Fox"

Focus: On-site Breach & Clear (Site-19)

A Chaos Insurgency infiltration has caused pandemonium at Site-19, releasing Class-D personnel and endangering SCP Foundation staff. Epsilon-11 "Nine Tailed Fox" arrives to secure the site before nuclear warheads activate as a last resort. During the mission, they discover gruesome evidence that the Chaos Insurgency have kidnapped an Overseer (O5-4), leaving a taunting message—“COME FIND HIM.” The operation ends with E-11 retaking control, but O5-4 remains missing.

2. Operation Black Nightmare[]

Task Force: Alpha-1 "Red Right Hand"

Focus: Hostage Rescue (Port Lockroy Base)

Alpha-1 "Red Right Hand" deploys to rescue the kidnapped O5-4 from a Chaos Insurgency stronghold hidden behind an abandoned mineshaft. Inside, the team uncovers intelligence about a planned biohazard attack using SCP-008(a “zombie” virus). The "Red Right Hand" fights through infected personnel, eventually rescuing O5-4 and escaping by eliminating anti-air defenses on the surface.

3. Operation Clean Out[]

Task Force: Beta-7 "Maz Hatters"

Focus: Biohazard Cleanup (Site-17)

Following the Chaos Insurgency’s SCP-008 assault, Site-17 is overrun with infected staff. Beta-7 "Maz Hatters" job is to eliminate infected threats, save any survivors, and destroy the ventilation controls spreading contamination. During the operation, one operative experiences a disturbing “flashforward” vision: they see themselves as the lone survivor in a snowy wreckage, with OVERWATCH missing. The hallucination is dismissed by command, but it foreshadows deeper mysteries.

4. Operation Blind Eye[]

Task Force: Eta-10 "See No Evil"

Focus: SCP-096 Recontainment (Deep Arctic)

SCP-096 (the “Shy Guy”) has escaped. Eta-10 "See No Evil" dispatches two squads to the arctic, but the first goes MIA. The second squad battles mysterious hostiles, stumbles upon UNGOC troops, and uncovers a suspicious cult-like torture site. Eventually, the squad locates SCP-096 deep in a forest and successfully bags it, though the presence of the UNGOC and other anomalies suggests a wider conspiracy.

5. Disavowed: Paper Trail[]

Task Force: Eta-10 "See No Evil" (Rogue Unit)

Focus: Covert Investigation (UNGOC Facility)

Suspecting that OVERWATCH may be working with the UNGOC, a rogue Eta-10 "See No Evil" operative infiltrates a UNGOC building to uncover the truth behind SCP-096's breach and the eerie discovery of a corpse matching that operative’s own identity. They learn that OVERWATCH may be orchestrating far more than standard SCP Foundation protocol—and may be in direct cooperation with the UNGOC. Ultimately, OVERWATCH personally intercepts and kills the operative, leaving many questions unanswered.

6. Operation Shattered Mind[]

Task Force: Mu-13 "Ghostbusters"

Focus: Reality Anchor Restoration ( Track 61)

Mu-13 "Ghostbusters" is sent to a warped subway station to reactivate a malfunctioning Scranton Reality Anchor. As they explore labyrinthine corridors and battle ghost-like entities, they witness a vision reminiscent of the Beta-7 "Maz Hatters" operative’s earlier flashforward—suggesting that certain Task Force members exist in multiple timelines or states of being. In a final twist, the mission’s perspective shifts to a surveillance room, revealing that everything may be monitored—or even manipulated—by OVERWATCH.

7. Operation Broken Chain[]

Task Force: Sigma-9 "Valkyries" then NU-7 "Hammer Down"

Focus: SCP-076-2 Engagement (Sonoran Desert)

Sigma-9 "Valkyries" moves in with aerial support (Boeing AH-64 Apache gunship) to deal with SCP-076-2, but things go south when the anomaly demanifests and attacks. NU-7 "Hammer Down" arrives to secure the threat and mop up any remaining dangers. The operation’s abrupt nature suggests that forces within the SCP Foundation are scrambling to contain anomalies while the internal mystery around OVERWATCH grows deeper.

Unreleased Finale: Operation Redemption[]

Although never officially released, “Operation Redemption” would have concluded the game’s story. Planned plot points suggest:

  • The Operative is one of many clones created under an unauthorized project—“Project Redemption”—initiated by OVERWATCH to “fix” the Mobile Task Forces after the O5 Council threatened to shut them down.
  • The original operative remains in a separate test facility; the playable missions may have been illusions or simulations.
  • An Alpha-1 "Red Right Hand" clone (also an Operative) raids the facility in the final operation, seeking revenge against OVERWATCH and to rescue these clones.
  • Two possible endings: Rejoin the SCP Foundation or abandon it entirely, leaving the conclusion up to the Operative’s choice.
